SAMPLE BUDGET WORKSHEET
Annontated Model Public Art Commission Agreement | www.AmericansForTheArts.org
The following sample budget worksheet, provided by the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, is intended to assist artists in planning and developing an estimated budget for public art projects. The following worksheet is intended as a guide only and is not necessarily inclusive of all costs which may be incurred
when undertaking a public art project. Not all costs listed will pertain to every project. A contingency of ten percent (10%) of the project total is highly encouraged to cover unexpected costs. The artist’s fee is generally 15%–20% of the total project budget for design and fabrication projects. This fee may vary based on the actual work undertaken by the artist and according to the experience and reputation of the artist.
The fee is generally intended to cover the creative work of the artist in developing the project concept. The fee is separate from and does not cover the artist’s labor if the artist is responsible for fabrication of the project. Eligible project costs may vary from program to program.
